Electrical Maintenance & Automation Engineer 1

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Electrical Maintenance & Automation Engineer to join our industrial manufacturing plant. The successful candidate will apply 1‑3 years of hands‑on experience with Siemens and Allen‑Bradley PLC systems to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and drive energy‑saving initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Execute preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on production and utility equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation and automation failures to minimise downtime.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis for major breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and optimise maintenance plans to increase equipment reliability and availability.
• Maintain and modify PLC programs using Siemens TIA Portal and Allen‑Bradley CompactLogix/ControlLogix/Studio 5000.
• Diagnose issues with HMI, SCADA, industrial networks, VFDs, sensors and field instrumentation.
• Monitor and improve KPIs such as OEE, MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance and equipment availability.
• Use CMMS for work‑order management, preventive planning and asset history tracking.
• Manage critical spare‑parts strategies to support a zero‑unplanned‑downtime approach.
• Lead energy‑management initiatives and participate in Lean, TPM and continuous‑improvement projects.

Required profile

• Electrical engineering graduate.
• 1‑3 years of experience in electrical maintenance and automation within an industrial environment.
• Strong leadership, communication and presentation abilities.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Good computer literacy and time‑management skills.
• Analytical problem‑solving capability.

Required skills

• Siemens PLC platforms (TIA Portal).
• Allen‑Bradley PLCs (CompactLogix, ControlLogix, Studio 5000).
• Human‑Machine Interface (HMI) and SCADA systems.
• Industrial networking, VFDs, sensors and field instrumentation.
• Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) usage.
