Fabric Data Engineer, Manager

About the role

PwC is hiring a Fabric Data Engineer, Manager, in its Advisory line of service in Cairo. The team focuses on designing and building data infrastructure and systems so that clients can turn raw data into actionable insights. The role covers data pipelines, data integration and data transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, secure data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric components (Data Factory in Fabric, Dataflows Gen2, Eventstreams and Synapse Data Engineering)
• Build and manage lakehouses and warehouses within OneLake, ensuring performance, scalability and data governance compliance
• Work with business and analytics teams to turn data requirements into reliable datasets for reporting and advanced analytics
• Develop and optimise PySpark notebooks for data transformation and machine learning workflows in Microsoft Fabric
• Support Power BI semantic models and implement real-time or near-real-time analytics
• Ensure data quality, lineage and observability using Microsoft Purview or Fabric's native monitoring
• Set up CI/CD pipelines and deploy data assets with DevOps for Fabric artifacts
• Contribute to the modern data architecture roadmap with data architects, analysts and platform engineers

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in the Data & Analytics field

Required skills

• Proficiency in SQL, PySpark and Power BI
• Experience with Microsoft OneLake, Dataflows Gen2, Synapse Engineering in Fabric and DirectLake connectivity
• Familiarity with DataOps, version control (e.g. Git) and automated deployment pipelines
• Data modeling (dimensional/star schema) and performance optimisation
• Data governance, security and compliance in the Microsoft ecosystem
• Integrating data from APIs, flat files and relational and NoSQL databases
