Fraud Governance & Controls Manager

About the role

The Fraud Governance & Controls Manager will lead the bank’s fraud risk management framework, establishing policies, standards and reporting mechanisms that enable proactive identification, assessment, mitigation and monitoring of fraud risks across all products, channels and support functions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct enterprise‑wide fraud risk assessments covering products, channels, processes, systems, third parties and emerging threats.
• Review fraud risk implications for new products, services, digital initiatives and strategic projects through the New Product Approval Process.
• Provide Board and senior‑management oversight through periodic reporting, governance forums and fraud committee meetings.
• Establish and maintain the fraud risk appetite, key risk indicators (KRIs) and performance metrics, monitoring breaches and escalating as needed.
• Design, implement and test preventive, detective and corrective fraud controls.
• Maintain a centralized fraud risk register and track remediation plans for identified vulnerabilities.
• Ensure compliance with central bank regulations, card‑scheme requirements and internal governance standards.
• Coordinate with Internal Audit, Compliance, Operational Risk, Information Security, Legal and Business Units to strengthen the control environment.
• Perform root‑cause analysis of fraud incidents and drive corrective actions.
• Monitor fraud losses, trends and emerging threats, delivering regular reports to management committees and the Board.
• Develop and deliver enterprise‑wide fraud awareness and training programs.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in fraud risk management, governance or related control functions within the banking sector.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and ability to translate them into practical controls.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a data‑driven mindset.
• Effective communication skills to convey complex risk concepts to diverse audiences.
