General Ledger Section Head

About the role

The General Ledger Section Head leads the GL accounting team, ensuring the highest level of accuracy, completeness, and integrity of the company’s financial records. This senior position bridges operational data entry with executive financial analysis, drives month‑end and year‑end closing processes, maintains robust internal controls, and prepares complex financial statements in compliance with IFRS and GAAP.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, review, and approve all manual journal entries, complex adjustments, accruals, and statutory provisions.
• Maintain and regularly update the corporate Chart of Accounts to reflect operational changes.
• Oversee cross‑border and intercompany transactions, invoicing allocation, and balance reconciliation.
• Review monthly balance‑sheet adjustments and multi‑currency bank reconciliations, proactively resolving variances.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closing cycles against tight deadlines.
• Prepare the monthly trial balance and draft full‑disclosure financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) in line with regulatory frameworks.
• Serve as the primary contact for internal, external, and government tax auditors, preparing high‑quality audit workpapers.
• Collaborate with tax consultants to ensure accurate recording of corporate tax and withholding tax transactions within statutory deadlines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration from an accredited university.
• 6–9 years of solid financial accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and GAAP reporting standards.
• Experience with multi‑currency accounting, intercompany reconciliations, and audit liaison.
• Proven ability to manage a chart of accounts and lead month‑end/year‑end closing processes.
