GL Accountant – General Ledger & Asset Accounting

About the role

Join ALPLA's AMET Accounting Service Hub as a GL Accountant, supporting finance operations across Africa, the Middle East and Turkey. You will be responsible for preparing and analysing financial reports, ensuring compliance with German GAAP, and providing day‑to‑day accounting support to plant sites.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare management, cost and statistical accounting reports (daily to annual) using eMIS, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and ALPLA systems.
• Execute General Ledger and Asset Accounting under German GAAP (HGB), including month‑end closing and annual financial statements.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet, income‑statement and fixed‑asset accounts; post journal entries, payroll accruals and manage petty cash.
• Create fixed assets, run depreciation, and analyse AUC/AUP accounts.
• Review reports for accuracy, investigate errors and unusual financial relationships.
• Prepare intercompany payment runs and reconciliations.
• Support internal controls, audit and tax preparation for plant sites.
• Perform additional tasks assigned by supervisors or managers.

Required profile

• BSc in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 1–3 years of practical General Ledger accounting experience; Shared Service Center experience is a plus.
• Experience coordinating small project teams (≤ 3 people) is advantageous.
• Strong analytical mindset, high personal responsibility and excellent communication skills.
• Fluent English (verbal and written).
