Head of Engineering – Ticketing Business

About the role

Hitachi Rail is looking for a highly experienced and strategic Head of Engineering to lead and manage all engineering activities related to its Ticketing Business. The role covers the design, development and implementation of innovative solutions, with a focus on technical excellence, project delivery and compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the overall engineering strategy, roadmap and technical vision in line with company objectives and market demands.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Oversee the full engineering lifecycle, from concept and design through testing, deployment and maintenance of ticketing systems.
• Ensure the technical integrity, quality and safety of deliverables in line with national and international standards such as CENELEC and EN.
• Manage engineering budgets, resources and timelines efficiently.
• Work with product management, project management and other cross-functional teams to deliver products successfully.
• Act as the main technical contact for clients, regulators and industry partners.
• Set up and maintain engineering processes, tools and methodologies, and represent the company at industry conferences and technical forums.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in engineering leadership roles.
• Proven track record of leading large, complex engineering teams and projects.
• Fluent in English and French, written and spoken.

Required skills

• Ability to develop and execute engineering strategies and roadmaps.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and Automatic Fare Collection Systems is a plus.
