Investment Banking Associate – M&A & Capital Markets

About the role

The Post Oak Group is looking for a detail‑oriented Investment Banking Associate to support sell‑side M&A and capital‑markets advisory mandates in the lower‑middle‑market segment. You will work directly with senior bankers, founders, CEOs, and institutional investors, taking ownership of transaction execution from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Produce institutional‑quality transaction materials such as teasers, confidential information memoranda, management presentations, and executive summaries.
• Perform EBITDA normalization, LTM and PF financial analysis, comparable company and precedent transaction analysis, and build supporting financial narratives.
• Build and tier investor and buyer universes, identifying target firms and senior contacts.
• Develop and maintain detailed financial models, including operating models, sources & uses, and returns/sensitivity analyses.
• Size total addressable and serviceable markets, stress‑testing company claims against independent data sources.
• Participate in client calls, management presentations, and diligence sessions alongside senior bankers.
• Support investor and buyer outreach, drafting communications and managing follow‑up cadence.
• Maintain process‑management infrastructure (deal CRM, outreach tracker, data room) and coordinate internal teams to align execution with transaction strategy.

Required profile

• Prior experience in investment banking, corporate development, or transaction advisory with direct responsibility for sell‑side M&A and capital‑markets execution.
• Ability to independently produce teasers, CIMs, and fully integrated financial models.
• Strong analytical ability, sound judgment, and capacity to manage multiple workstreams without sacrificing quality.
• Deep working knowledge of lower‑middle‑market M&A dynamics.
