IT Operations Specialist – Shift‑based Monitoring

About the role

The leading Islamic Bank in Egypt seeks an IT Operations Specialist to ensure continuous monitoring of its infrastructure and applications. You will work shift‑based schedules, including weekends and public holidays, providing first‑level (L1) incident handling and executing run‑book tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor servers, storage, network, and application health alerts in real time.
• Perform IBM iSeries operational activities and basic administration per approved procedures.
• Watch MIMIX replication, conduct basic checks, and promptly escalate anomalies.
• Validate alerts, filter false positives, and carry out event correlation/triage.
• Execute daily health checks, log reviews, and routine alert checks according to runbooks.
• Receive and classify incidents from helpdesk/NOC, perform L1 troubleshooting, and resolve known issues.
• Handle user profile lock/unlock requests and basic ATM restart procedures.
• Run scheduled operational tasks such as batch monitoring, service checks, and replication checks.
• Document actions with screenshots/log extracts, update tickets, and maintain a daily logbook.
• Raise proactive alerts for abnormal behavior and prepare shift‑end status reports.
• Escalate incidents beyond L1 scope to designated teams or vendors per the escalation matrix.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 2‑3 years of experience in IT support, operations, or NOC‑style monitoring.
• Hands‑on experience with ITSM/ticketing tools and disciplined documentation.
• Understanding of incident priority, severity, escalation, and shift handover best practices.
• Awareness of replication monitoring concepts (e.g., MIMIX) and ability to spot anomalies.
• Basic knowledge of banking applications, IBM iSeries, or IT infrastructure systems is a plus.
• ITIL Foundation certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
