IT Support Technician – Desktop & Network Support

About the role

The Information Technology Support Technician provides on‑site technical assistance for desktop computers, laptops and related hardware at Jo Steel’s Alexandria facility. The role ensures reliable operation of user devices, printers and basic network connectivity to support daily business activities.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain desktop computers, laptops and peripheral devices.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, including system performance and connectivity problems.
• Provide routine troubleshooting and support for printers, scanners and other office equipment.
• Respond to user support requests, document incidents and track resolutions.
• Coordinate with external vendors for hardware repairs or replacements when needed.
• Assist with basic LAN/WLAN connectivity issues and ensure compliance with IT security policies.

Required profile

• Strong technical support experience with hands‑on handling of desktops, laptops and operating system installations.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software and network performance problems.
• Practical experience in printer installation, configuration and maintenance.
• Ability to perform computer repair tasks such as component replacement, diagnostics and hardware upgrades.
• Knowledge of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, LAN, WLAN) and antivirus/IT security best practices.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service skills, able to explain technical issues clearly.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Alexandria, Egypt.
