L2 Data Engineer – Remote

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled L2 Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team. In this remote position you will lead the design, development, and optimisation of enterprise‑scale data platforms and cloud‑native solutions, working closely with architects, analysts, and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows on Azure and Databricks.
• Architect scalable ingestion, transformation and orchestration processes using Azure Data Factory, Databricks and Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Build high‑performance transformation frameworks with PySpark, Python and Spark SQL.
• Optimise SQL queries, Spark jobs and data workflows for performance, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Lead data migration projects, including SQL Server migrations and legacy platform modernisation.
• Implement and maintain Delta Lake architecture and incremental loading strategies.
• Collaborate on data model design aligned with governance standards.
• Monitor production pipelines, perform root‑cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation for data engineering.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to reusable frameworks and best practices.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or a related field.
• Strong hands‑on expertise with Azure services and Databricks.
• Proven ability to design and operate enterprise‑grade data platforms.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
