Lead Buyer – Procurement Services (Grant Position)

About the role

The Lead Buyer will oversee high‑value procurement activities for the university, ensuring compliance with AUC policies and financial guidelines. This grant‑funded position manages complex purchases, vendor selection, and contract negotiations across multiple projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full procurement cycle for large, complex purchases, from request to contract administration.
• Identify, evaluate, and qualify vendors; maintain updated vendor lists and develop new sources.
• Prepare and manage RFPs, RFQs, and bid invitations; evaluate quotations and support best‑value decisions.
• Lead negotiations on pricing, delivery, and contract terms; draft and administer purchase orders and supply agreements.
• Conduct market research to assess pricing trends and supplier performance.
• Review high‑value requisitions for budget availability and support cost‑saving initiatives.
• Maintain procurement reports, vendor evaluations, and compliance documentation.
• Coordinate with internal departments to clarify specifications, timelines, and order status.
• Mentor junior buyers and promote ethical, transparent purchasing practices.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance timeliness and documentation accuracy.

Required profile

• University degree (required).
• Supply Chain Management or CIPS certification (asset).
• Minimum 10 years relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Proven experience in project procurement management and contractual/financial oversight.
