Lead Data Scientist

About the role

Vodafone Egypt is looking for a Lead Data Scientist to drive data‑driven decision making across its consumer marketing business. You will work within a multidisciplinary data science team, collaborating with engineers and business stakeholders to deliver impactful analytics solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor and lead a team of Data Scientists, fostering technical excellence.
• Identify commercial opportunities and define analytics initiatives that meet business requirements.
• Translate complex data sets into strategic insights and communicate findings to non‑technical audiences.
• Partner with technology teams to design, build, test, deploy, maintain and improve models and data pipelines.
• Stay abreast of emerging analytics trends and promote Design Thinking and Agile practices.

Required profile

• Passion for working with large data sets and integrating them to answer business questions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to solve unstructured problems.
• Self‑directed, able to own tasks from conception to completion.
• Excellent hypothesis testing, analytical reasoning and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Required skills

• Big Data technologies: Hadoop MapReduce, interactive SQL on Hadoop, NoSQL databases.
• Data processing frameworks: Apache Spark.
• Data visualization and analysis tools: Tableau, GIS.
