Lecturer/Associate Professor in Computational Design & Engineering Optimization

About the role

The German University in Cairo seeks a highly qualified academic to join the Department of Design and Production Engineering. The position, at the rank of Lecturer or Associate Professor, focuses on advanced mechanical engineering design, computational design, and engineering optimization.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses covering classical and advanced mechanical engineering design.
• Supervise student projects, theses, and design research.
• Conduct high‑quality, peer‑reviewed research in design optimization, lightweight structures, and additive manufacturing.
• Develop and continuously improve curriculum and teaching materials.
• Participate in departmental service, industry partnerships, and interdisciplinary research initiatives.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Mechanical Design or a closely related discipline from a recognized university.
• Demonstrated teaching experience at undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
• Strong record of independent research with publications in reputable journals.
• Experience in funded research projects is an asset.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and commitment to academic excellence.
