About the role
The Faculty of Applied Science and Arts at GUC (Cairo Campus) seeks a motivated Lecturer/Instructor to teach Arabic and Latin type design within its Graphic Design Department. The role involves both undergraduate and graduate instruction, focusing on the full typeface creation process.
Key responsibilities
- Teach students how to develop and digitize Arabic and Latin typefaces from sketch to final font.
- Guide projects that integrate calligraphy, lettering, and typographic layout.
- Contribute to curriculum development and academic research in type design.
Required profile
- Strong knowledge of current and emerging design approaches.
- Commitment to progressive, self‑organized design education.
- Ability to work with colleagues from diverse cultural and aesthetic backgrounds.
- Excellent English communication and writing skills.
- Good project management and deadline‑driving abilities.
Required skills
- Experience in Arabic and Latin type design, calligraphy, and lettering.
- Proficiency with Glyphs software.
- Proficiency with FontLab software.
- Background in typography and layout (asset).
