About the role
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is seeking a Legal Consultant to design and deliver a mock‑trial on technology‑facilitated violence against women and girls (TFVAWG). The consultant will work remotely from Egypt, with occasional travel to Alexandria, to support UNODC’s effort to strengthen legal responses and capacity building for criminal‑justice practitioners.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and design TFVAWG mock‑trial scenarios, including case studies, agenda, and training materials.
- Co‑facilitate the three‑day mock‑trial with UNODC and ROMENA experts, leading wrap‑ups and summarising daily learnings.
- Prepare and disseminate a comprehensive post‑trial report with impact analysis, lessons learned, and recommendations.
- Draft Standard Operating Procedures (minimum 20 pages) for legal clinics at selected law schools, covering governance, workflow, case management, monitoring and reporting.
- Co‑deliver two training sessions for law students on operating legal clinics and providing legal aid to women and girls affected by cyber‑based violence.
- Produce training materials and a summary report (minimum 4 pages) for UNODC approval.
Required profile
- Advanced legal degree (LL.B, J.D., or equivalent) with specialization in criminal law, human‑rights law, or gender‑based violence.
- Proven experience in designing and delivering mock trials, workshops, or capacity‑building programmes.
- Familiarity with UN‑system procedures and multi‑stakeholder coordination.
- Ability to work independently, manage tight timelines (July 1 – Nov 30 2026), and travel within Egypt as required.

- Development of training curricula and SOP documentation.
- Strong analytical and report‑writing abilities.
- Effective communication in English (additional Arabic is a plus).
