Legal Counsel

About the role

Hitachi Energy is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Legal Counsel to provide full‑spectrum legal support across its corporate functions and business units, including Grid Integration, Grid Automation, High Voltage, Transformers, and Services in Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and interpret contracts and legal documents in collaboration with business teams.
• Provide strategic advice on contract law, litigation, anti‑trust, compliance, intellectual property, employment, corporate governance and ethics.
• Develop close relationships with internal customers, commercial teams and supply‑chain functions.
• Review vendor, customer and third‑party policies to ensure compliance.
• Research, analyze and interpret applicable laws, statutes and regulations.
• Advise on claims, liabilities and oversee disputes and litigation, coordinating external advisors when needed.
• Support business units in managing contractual claims and dispute resolution.
• Participate in compliance initiatives, integrity monitoring and implementation of the Code of Ethics.
• Monitor legal affairs, including litigation and activity reporting.
• Draft and review RFQs, tender documents, risk assessments and negotiate framework agreements.
• Plan and coordinate legal training and promote best‑practice processes across the organization.
