Light Current Engineer

About the role

The Light Current Engineer will supervise the installation of structured cabling systems, both copper and fiber optic, and ensure the proper deployment of data and telecommunication networks across multiple sites. The role involves close coordination with consultants, contractors and subcontractors to deliver projects that meet TIA/EIA and BICSI standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise installation of Structured Cabling Systems (Copper & Fiber Optic) and Data & Telecommunication Networks.
• Review shop drawings, layouts and technical submittals before execution.
• Coordinate on‑site with consultants, contractors and subcontractors.
• Monitor daily site activities, enforce project schedule and HSE policies.
• Conduct site inspections, quality checks and testing using Fluke testers or equivalent.
• Prepare and submit test reports, daily/weekly progress reports and update project documentation.
• Identify and resolve technical issues, ensure compliance with TIA/EIA standards and project specifications.
• Support project handover, including preparation of as‑built drawings and handover documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 1 year experience in light‑current systems and structured cabling projects.
• Strong knowledge of UTP, STP, fiber‑optic cabling, racks, patch panels and cable management.
• Familiarity with TIA/EIA and BICSI standards.
• Experience with cable testing and certification using Fluke DSX or similar equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and single‑line diagrams.
• Proven coordination and communication abilities, with capacity to manage site teams and subcontractors.
• Willingness to work on multiple sites as required.
