Maintenance & Facility Engineer (Retail Stores)

About the role

The Maintenance & Facility Engineer ensures that all store facilities, equipment and technical systems operate efficiently and reliably. You will lead preventive and corrective maintenance programmes across multiple retail locations, guaranteeing a safe and uninterrupted shopping environment for customers and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance activities across assigned stores.
• Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Monitor equipment performance, implement measures to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems with refrigeration, HVAC, electrical systems, generators, plumbing and store equipment.
• Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialised work.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history and spare‑parts inventory.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting maintenance‑related expenses.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, food‑safety and local regulations.
• Support store operations by keeping refrigeration and cold‑chain equipment functional.
• Participate in emergency response and provide technical support during equipment failures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 2–5 years of maintenance engineering experience, preferably in retail, FMCG, supermarkets or commercial facilities.
• Knowledge of refrigeration systems, HVAC, electrical systems and building maintenance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with maintenance management systems is an advantage.
