Managing Director - Distribution

About the role

The Managing Director – Distribution will lead the overall business strategy, commercial performance and operational excellence of a leading FMCG distribution organisation. Reporting to the Board, you will be accountable for profit and loss, growth initiatives and building a high‑performance culture across all functions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company’s strategic plan in line with the Board’s vision.
• Lead commercial, sales, distribution, operations, finance and support functions to achieve sustainable growth.
• Assume full P&L responsibility, driving revenue growth, profitability and cost optimisation.
• Strengthen the distribution network and route‑to‑market strategies to maximise market coverage and customer satisfaction.
• Set performance objectives, monitor KPIs and conduct regular operational reviews.
• Build and develop an executive leadership team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
• Maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, suppliers and strategic partners.
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance, legal requirements and risk management.
• Identify new business opportunities, market expansion initiatives and operational improvements.
• Provide regular performance reports and strategic recommendations to the Board.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field; postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in FMCG, distribution or consumer goods.
• At least 5 years in a senior executive role with full P&L responsibility (e.g., Managing Director, General Manager).
• Proven track record of managing large‑scale distribution operations and leading cross‑functional teams.
• Demonstrated success in driving business growth, operational transformation and organisational performance.
