Material Handler

About the role

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Material Handler to support safe and efficient movement of raw materials, work‑in‑process inventory and finished goods within its manufacturing facility. The role ensures production lines stay supplied and warehouse operations run smoothly in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Load finished goods onto transport trucks for customer shipment.
• Move work‑in‑process materials from cutters, presses and storage racks to designated locations.
• Unload incoming trucks, verify shipments and record inventory in the BPCS system.
• Transport materials to gluing machines to meet production requirements.
• Perform daily pre‑operational inspections of forklifts, clamp trucks and other handling equipment.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and support housekeeping standards.
• Assist with additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum two years of material handling experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to read and follow instructions, labels and basic forms.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Capability to perform routine tasks in a defined sequence and resolve simple problems.
• Strong communication skills for clear instruction and reporting.

Required skills

• Forklift operation.
• Clamp truck operation.
• Use of BPCS warehouse management system.
• General material handling equipment proficiency.
