Mechanical Engineer - Steel Factory

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our steel production facility in 10th of Ramadan City, Cairo. The role focuses on maintaining and optimizing critical rotating equipment and plant machinery to ensure continuous, safe operation.

Key responsibilities

• Execute preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on heavy rotating equipment, gearboxes, pumps and fans.
• Troubleshoot, repair and optimize high‑pressure hydraulic and pneumatic systems that drive essential plant machinery.
• Lead mechanical technicians during emergency equipment failures to restore production quickly and safely.
• Perform laser alignments, dynamic balancing and vibration analysis to prevent premature bearing and shaft failures.
• Plan and carry out mechanical overhauls during scheduled plant turnarounds and major shutdowns.
• Redesign components that suffer high wear from heat, scale or dust to extend their operational life.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related manufacturing field.
• Minimum 3 years of mechanical engineering experience in a steel mill, foundry or heavy‑processing environment.
• Hands‑on experience with Electric Arc Furnaces, Continuous Casting Machines, overhead cranes or rolling mills.
• Strong knowledge of heavy hydraulics, lubrication systems, thermodynamics and materials science related to steel wear and heat treatment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD software – AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Experience using a CMMS such as SAP or Maximo for work order management.
• Laser alignment, dynamic balancing and vibration analysis techniques.
• Expertise in hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance.
