Mechanical Engineer – Water Treatment & Desalination

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the operation and reliability of mechanical equipment at water and wastewater treatment and desalination plants. The role involves hands‑on maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of rotating and static plant assets.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, blowers, compressors, dosing systems, mixers, conveyors, screens, clarifiers, filters and related equipment.
• Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical failures using engineering principles and best‑practice maintenance methods.
• Develop and implement preventive‑maintenance schedules to boost equipment reliability.
• Coordinate shutdowns, overhauls and equipment commissioning while minimizing production interruptions.
• Monitor equipment performance, recommend efficiency improvements and manage spare‑parts inventory.
• Prepare maintenance reports, work orders, failure‑analysis documentation and technical records.
• Collaborate with Operations, Electrical, Instrumentation and Process teams to ensure continuous plant operation.
• Supervise contractors and external service providers during maintenance activities.
• Support root‑cause analysis (RCA) and drive corrective and preventive actions.

Required profile

• Engineering bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Power.
• Fresh graduate or up to 2 years of relevant experience.
• Overall graduation grade of “Very good”.
• Good command of English.
• Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes (physical, chemical, biological).

Required skills

• Preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance techniques.
• Mechanical equipment inspection and troubleshooting (pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, blowers, compressors, dosing systems, mixers, conveyors, screens, clarifiers, filters).
• Root‑cause analysis and failure‑analysis reporting.
• Maintenance scheduling and reliability improvement.
• Computer proficiency for technical reporting.
