Mechanical Project Engineer

About the role

The Mechanical Project Engineer will lead the planning, execution and commissioning of all mechanical systems for new store openings, renovations and capital projects across Spinneys Egypt. The role ensures that HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, fire protection, LPG and ventilation installations meet company standards, regulatory requirements and project timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed project schedules and monitor progress against approved timelines.
• Coordinate mechanical works with internal stakeholders and external contractors for store openings, refurbishments and renovations.
• Manage installation, testing and commissioning of HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, fire protection, LPG and ventilation systems.
• Evaluate contractor performance, ensure compliance with specifications and resolve technical issues.
• Conduct site inspections, verify compliance with Spinneys Engineering Standards and oversee snag‑list closure.
• Monitor project budgets, review BOQs, evaluate variation orders and support procurement technical evaluations.
• Ensure adherence to HSE regulations, local building codes and promote safe work practices on all sites.
• Prepare progress reports, maintain documentation and support handover to Operations and Maintenance teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience managing mechanical projects in a retail or construction environment.
• Strong understanding of local building codes, HSE regulations and engineering standards.
• Ability to work onsite across multiple store locations and coordinate cross‑functional teams.
