MEP Resident Engineer - Abu Qir Metro

About the role

Egis, together with partner ECG, holds the Contract Management and Construction Supervision Consultancy contract for the Abu Qir Metro project, a new 22 km metro line in Alexandria. The MEP Resident Engineer acts as on-site technical leadership and supervision for all mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) activities across a 20 km corridor, including 20 stations, the Main Depot and the Service Point. The engineer leads and mentors a team of senior and junior engineers so that installations meet international safety standards, project specifications and local code requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as direct line manager for the site electrical and mechanical engineering team, providing mentorship, assigning daily tasks and monitoring performance to meet project milestones.
• Conduct regular site inspections to check the quality of MEP installations against approved shop drawings, design specifications and safety protocols.
• Review method statements and shop drawings.
• Track progress against the project master schedule and prepare and present regular progress reports on the MEP site status.

Required profile

• BSc degree in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering.
• At least 15 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years on major transit infrastructure projects (metro, tram or railway).
• Knowledge of the main metro systems and the safety requirements for MEP activities under international standards and best practice.
• Native Arabic is an advantage; bilingual English is required.
• Strong communication, coordination and management skills.
