Pipefitter Lead

About the role

Amentum is seeking an experienced Pipefitter Lead to join the International Fleet Support team under NAVSEA PMS 326 FOTS. The position is based at the Egyptian Naval Base in Alexandria and offers a competitive benefits package.

Key responsibilities

• Lead installation, repair, and maintenance of piping systems aboard naval surface ships, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and NAVSEA standards.
• Supervise pipefitting teams, delegate tasks, conduct quality checks, and train junior staff on proper installation techniques and safety procedures.
• Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic inspections, identify faults, and execute necessary repairs.
• Coordinate with project managers and engineers for material procurement, manpower allocation, and scheduling to meet project deadlines.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and welding safety standards.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED with at least 5 years of pipefitting experience, preferably on naval shipboard systems.
• Completed formal pipefitting apprenticeship or vocational training in welding, plumbing, or pipefitting.
• Proven leadership experience supervising pipefitters and welders in shipyards, aboard vessels, or industrial settings.
• U.S. citizenship, ability to obtain Country Clearance and Base Pass, and a passport valid for at least two years after arrival in Egypt.

Required skills

• High‑pressure piping, fuel, water, and hydraulic system installation and maintenance.
• Welding and brazing techniques (TIG, MIG, stick) for marine piping.
• Hydrostatic testing, pneumatic testing, leak detection, and use of inspection tools such as pressure gauges, borescopes, and ultrasonic equipment.
• Cutting, threading, bending, and assembling carbon steel, stainless steel, copper‑nickel, and PVC pipe materials.
• Interpretation of vessel blueprints, ship drawings, and systems manuals.
