Prevention Programmer – Community Outreach (Full-Time)

About the role

The Prevention Programmer works within the Community Outreach Bureau to design and deliver alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) prevention programs for middle and high school students and the broader community. This full‑time, non‑exempt position blends education, counseling, and role‑model responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate ATOD prevention initiatives for various age groups, including media projects, policy advocacy, presentations and community events.
• Collaborate with local, state and federal prevention agencies and serve as an advisor to Dover Youth‑to‑Youth peer groups.
• Facilitate training sessions for youth and adult audiences on public speaking, advocacy, media creation and quality‑control procedures.
• Maintain administrative systems: compile monthly reports, gather grant data, manage inventory and archive data.
• Support social‑media outreach by posting updates, updating websites and promoting program activities.

Required profile

• Motivation to work directly with adolescents and ability to earn their respect while holding them accountable.
• Strong interpersonal skills to partner with educators, police personnel and community stakeholders.
• Flexibility to assume data‑analysis tasks when needed.

Required skills

• Experience planning and delivering youth‑focused prevention programs.
• Ability to develop training materials and conduct workshops.
• Proficiency in basic data collection, reporting and inventory management.
