Process Development – SMT Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

Signify is looking for a Process Development – SMT Manufacturing Engineer to join its production unit in Egypt. The role focuses on optimizing surface‑mount technology (SMT) processes, supporting new product introductions and driving continuous improvement to ensure high efficiency, quality and cost‑effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control SMT production steps including printing, pick‑and‑place and reflow.
• Optimize machine parameters to maximise yield and minimise defects.
• Troubleshoot process‑related issues, reduce downtime and lead root‑cause investigations using 8D, Fishbone and 5 Whys.
• Collaborate with the Quality team to lower defect rates.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and conduct process validation.
• Define, update and maintain work instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Lead Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to improve efficiency, waste reduction and reliability.
• Coordinate with maintenance for machine performance, preventive maintenance and capacity planning.
• Ensure proper utilisation of SMT equipment and manpower.

Required profile

• Proven experience with SMT production processes (printing, pick‑and‑place, reflow).
• Familiarity with root‑cause analysis tools such as 8D, Fishbone and 5 Whys.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Ability to create and maintain work instructions and SOPs.
• Strong collaboration skills with quality and maintenance teams.
