About the role
The Procurement Lead will drive the sourcing and purchasing activities for a meat‑processing operation, ensuring a reliable supply of high‑quality inputs while optimizing cost and risk. Reporting to senior management, this role will shape supplier strategies and support cross‑functional projects.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct market research to identify new and existing suppliers that meet company requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, request quotes, and negotiate contract terms including price, delivery schedule, and payment conditions.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders and agreements, and follow up to guarantee on‑time, on‑budget deliveries.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance against key business criteria, addressing issues promptly.
- Analyze industry and demand trends to assist senior management in developing sourcing strategies.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders on new projects and provide cost‑analysis recommendations for process improvements.
- Prepare expenditure reports, track spending trends, and identify potential waste or abuse.
- Stay updated on market developments to uncover opportunities and mitigate risks.
Required profile
- BSc/BA in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- 3‑4 years of proven experience in procurement within the meat industry.
- Strong knowledge of purchasing strategies and contract compliance.
