Professor (Assistant/Associate/Full) – Americas, Asia & World History

About the role

The Sultan Al-Qasimi Department of History at the American University in Cairo seeks an open‑rank faculty member (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor) specializing in the Americas, Asia, and/or World History. The appointment begins in Fall 2027 and is a four‑year fixed‑term position, renewable based on performance.

Key responsibilities

• Teach three undergraduate courses each semester, including historiographical, methodological, and survey courses.
• Develop and deliver upper‑level special‑topic seminars.
• Conduct scholarly research and publish in reputable journals.
• Participate in departmental service, curriculum development, and academic committees.

Required profile

• PhD in History (or related field) completed by 1 September 2027.
• Demonstrated teaching experience at the university level.
• Specialization that enables teaching the role of the Americas and/or Asia in a globalized context.
• Fluency in English for instruction and scholarly communication.

Required skills

• Strong command of English language for teaching and research.
• Expertise in historiography, methodology, and thematic areas of the Americas, Asia, or World History.
