Professor / Associate Professor – Civil & Commercial Law

About the role

The German University in Cairo invites highly qualified scholars to join its Law and Legal Studies program as a Professor or Associate Professor in Civil and Commercial Law. The successful candidate will begin in September 2026, delivering undergraduate courses and contributing to the university’s research and community engagement missions.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in civil and commercial law, including Evidence of Law, Law of Civil and Commercial Procedures, and Enforcement.
• Develop teaching materials, case studies, and seminars aligned with the program’s objectives.
• Collaborate with department colleagues on curriculum design and interdisciplinary projects.
• Participate in academic research, publish scholarly work, and contribute to the university’s research profile.
• Engage with the broader legal and business community through consultancy, memberships, and publications.

Required profile

• Doctorate degree in law or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated teaching experience at the university level, preferably in civil or commercial law.
• Strong publication record and active research agenda.
• Experience or involvement with the legal industry, such as consulting or professional association membership.
• Student‑centred orientation and ability to mentor undergraduate students.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of civil law, commercial law, and procedural law.
• Curriculum development and instructional design.
• Academic research and scholarly writing.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
