Rolling Stock Engineer

About the role

The Rolling Stock Engineer leads and manages maintenance operations for rolling stock and depot equipment, ensuring high reliability, availability, and safety. This role combines operational efficiency, technical excellence, and proactive team leadership to keep trainsets running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all maintenance activities for rolling stock and depot equipment, monitoring efficiency and implementing corrective actions.
• Investigate damages, equipment failures, and recurring issues to improve system reliability.
• Ensure compliance with planned and corrective maintenance schedules and coordinate cross‑functional technical efforts.
• Analyze trainset performance using diagnostic tools and field data.
• Manage human, material, and financial resources to optimise operational output.
• Develop training programmes, evaluate performance, and build competency plans.
• Lead day‑to‑day team coordination, task assignment, shift management, and conflict resolution.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records in Maximo, generate and close work orders, and analyse data trends for continuous improvement.
• Promote a strong safety culture, conduct toolbox talks, safety drills, and lead incident investigations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operations and maintenance management of rolling stock or similar heavy‑equipment assets.
• Strong leadership and team‑development skills.
• Ability to manage resources, spare‑parts forecasting, and capital‑investment planning.
• Solid understanding of occupational health and safety regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Maximo or equivalent Maintenance Management System.
• Experience using diagnostic tools for trainset performance analysis.
