Science Teacher & Head of Department (Academic Year 26-27)

About the role

Westview International Language School is looking for an experienced Science Teacher who will also serve as Head of Department for the 2026‑27 academic year. The successful candidate will combine classroom teaching with strategic leadership to raise the quality of science education across the school.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging science lessons to multiple grade levels, fostering deep conceptual understanding.
• Lead the science department by setting goals, designing curriculum, and monitoring instructional effectiveness.
• Mentor and support science teachers through professional development and best‑practice sharing.
• Coordinate curriculum planning to ensure alignment with school standards and educational frameworks.
• Analyse student performance data to refine teaching strategies and improve outcomes.
• Manage departmental resources, budgets, and equipment efficiently.
• Collaborate with school leadership and other departments on school‑wide initiatives.
• Engage parents and the wider community to promote the science programme.
• Stay current with scientific advances and pedagogical trends through continuous learning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related science field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 3 years of teaching experience, with some experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum and assess student learning.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, innovative learning environment.
• Relevant teaching certification or professional qualifications.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and safeguarding verification.
