Senior Associate Counsel – Egypt

About the role

Visa is seeking a Senior Associate Counsel to join its Cairo office. The role supports Visa’s commercial and regulatory activities across the CEMEA region, providing pragmatic legal advice while balancing risk and business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and review a wide range of commercial contracts and legal documents, adapting global templates to local requirements.
• Provide counsel to business teams on deal structures, contract interpretation and standard approaches.
• Advise on partner arrangements for product and solution development, including drafting and negotiating related agreements.
• Guide Visa CEMEA teams on applicable legal and regulatory requirements, and monitor regulatory developments.
• Coordinate and supervise outside counsel for cost‑effectiveness and quality of service.
• Support regional subsidiaries with corporate and regulatory filings and entity formation matters.
• Offer legal advice to local HR on policy issues and employee relations.
• Leverage legal technology and AI tools to improve contract management and risk assessment.
• Occasional travel as required.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with a law degree and admission to practice in Egypt.
• Minimum 6 + years post‑qualification experience, preferably from a leading international law firm or multinational organization.
• Strong commercial and transactional background with a proven record of handling complex agreements.
• Ability to deliver business‑oriented legal advice and work cross‑functionally across multiple jurisdictions.
• Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken); French is a plus.
