Senior Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Axis is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain high‑performance, secure backend services for its fintech platform. You will work on micro‑services, event‑driven architectures and workflow orchestration to enable seamless digital payments for small businesses across Egypt.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate scalable, highly available backend services.
• Apply Domain‑Driven Design to define clear bounded contexts and service responsibilities.
• Build and evolve event‑driven architectures with reliable asynchronous communication.
• Implement business workflows using Temporal or similar orchestration tools.
• Make architectural decisions balancing scalability, reliability, performance and maintainability.
• Lead investigation and resolution of complex production incidents and performance bottlenecks.
• Design robust RESTful APIs and service‑to‑service communication patterns.
• Improve system observability, profiling, benchmarking and overall performance.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong programming skills in multiple languages and frameworks.
• Proven experience designing micro‑services, DDD, and event‑driven systems.
• Hands‑on experience with workflow orchestration (Temporal) and long‑running processes.
• Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems and resolve production issues.
