Senior Cloud Engineer

About the role

The Senior Cloud Engineer will design, build and optimise enterprise‑grade cloud platforms. You will lead automation initiatives, ensure high availability, and drive cloud‑native transformation across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, architect and modernise scalable, secure and highly available cloud infrastructure, including capacity planning, performance tuning and disaster recovery.
• Deploy, administer and troubleshoot OpenStack components (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, Keystone, Heat, Horizon, Swift).
• Design, deploy and manage production Kubernetes clusters for cloud‑native and micro‑services applications.
• Administer enterprise Linux systems (RHEL, Rocky, CentOS, Ubuntu) – hardening, patching, tuning and lifecycle management.
• Design and manage enterprise storage solutions (SAN, NAS, Ceph, Fibre Channel, iSCSI) including backup, replication and DR.
• Support enterprise networking – routing, switching, VLANs/VXLANs, load balancers, firewalls and SDN.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and automation using GitLab CI/CD, Ansible, Python, Bash and Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools.
• Manage server hardware (HPE, Cisco UCS, Dell EMC) and collaborate with infrastructure, network, storage and application teams.
• Develop cloud architecture standards, lead migration initiatives and evaluate emerging technologies.
• Perform platform upgrades, health checks, monitoring integration and lifecycle management to ensure reliability, security and performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of cloud or systems engineering experience, including at least 3 years managing OpenStack (version 17+).
• Proven experience leading cloud architecture, migration and modernisation projects.
• Strong Linux administration and scripting/automation skills (Python, Bash).
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, GitLab CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Solid understanding of enterprise storage, networking and hardware platforms.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK or Zabbix.
• Relevant certifications (OpenStack, CKA/CKAD, RHCSA/RHCE, AWS, Azure, GCP) are a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership, technical mentoring and cross‑functional collaboration abilities.
