Senior Data Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Data Engineer to help drive Payrails’ data‑centric mission. You will collaborate with analysts, data scientists and engineers to build data products that power smarter decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust, scalable batch and real‑time data pipelines.
• Architect and operate the data infrastructure supporting Payrails’ payment platform.
• Implement data governance and security best practices.
• Build tooling to improve data quality, CI/CD workflows and observability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate requirements into optimal data solutions.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of experience building production‑grade data pipelines and services.
• Strong proficiency in Python; GoLang experience is a plus.
• Expertise in SQL, data modelling and working with OLTP (PostgreSQL) and OLAP (Snowflake, BigQuery) databases at scale.
• Hands‑on experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
• Knowledge of containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Effective communication in English and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka or Kinesis and stream processing frameworks (Flink, Beam, Kafka Streams) is advantageous.
• Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code tools like Terraform.
