Senior Dispatch Engineer – Open Pit Mining Fleet Management

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Dispatch Engineer to optimise real‑time utilisation of the open‑pit mining fleet at the Sukari gold mine. The role will use advanced Fleet Management Systems to direct shovels and trucks, ensuring safe, efficient material movement and achievement of daily production and blending targets.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and optimise the Fleet Management System to maximise throughput, shovel utilisation and truck payload efficiency.
• Monitor shift production against targets and dynamically re‑allocate hauling and loading units to resolve bottlenecks, breakdowns or changing pit conditions.
• Coordinate with pit supervisors, geology teams and planners to ensure grade‑control compliance and precise blending at the run‑of‑mine pad and waste dumps.
• Track and report shift production metrics, equipment utilisation and operational delays, maintaining high data integrity in the dispatch database.
• Identify and troubleshoot hardware or software connectivity issues between the dispatch office and field units, working with IT and instrumentation teams.
• Mentor and train junior dispatch controllers and operators on system usage, best practices and SOPs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of operational experience in a large‑scale open‑pit mining environment.
• At least 3 years in dispatch operations and fleet management systems.
• Strong understanding of open‑pit mining sequences, haulage cycle dynamics and data analytics.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Fleet Management Systems such as Modular Mining Dispatch, Jigsaw, Wenco or Minestar.
• Experience with mine productivity reporting software.
