Senior Field Service Engineer

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY TECHNOLOGY S.A.E. is looking for a Senior Field Service Engineer in Cairo. The role covers installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrade of power systems, electrical equipment and service solutions, acting as a trusted technical advisor to customers on projects involving transformers, substations, high-voltage equipment, power quality systems and grid automation. It involves frequent travel to customer sites locally and internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, repair, upgrade and retrofit of power systems and electrical equipment.
• Provide high-quality technical support remotely and on-site to resolve customer issues.
• Diagnose and repair complex electrical and mechanical faults using technical documentation, schematics and diagnostic tools.
• Carry out routine, preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance and recommend improvements.
• Lead responses to critical service events, escalations and emergencies.
• Coach Field Service Engineers, technicians and subcontractors and build customer relationships, identifying service agreements, upgrades and modernization projects.
• Collaborate with Sales, Project Management and Supply Chain, and prepare service reports, risk assessments, method statements and repair records.
• Manage spare parts and tool inventories and comply with applicable regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in field service, installation, commissioning, maintenance, testing or related engineering activities.
• Experience managing SLAs and leading Field Service Engineer teams.
• Strong understanding of transformers, substations, high-voltage equipment, power quality solutions, protection and control systems, grid automation and power systems.
• Ability to read technical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams; proven problem-solving and communication skills.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English; willingness to travel frequently, often on short notice.
• Experience with Hitachi Energy or similar energy technology products is an advantage.
