Senior Financial Planner & Analyst

About the role

The Senior Financial Planner & Analyst will drive financial planning, forecasting and performance analysis for a large supermarket chain. You will turn store‑level data into actionable insights that support fast, commercial and operational decisions across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing annual budgets and rolling forecasts, building and maintaining financial models for sales, margins and expenses.
• Track actual performance versus budget, highlight variances and analyse daily, weekly and monthly sales trends.
• Monitor key metrics such as like‑for‑like sales, basket size, gross margin by category and store profitability.
• Support promotions, pricing and ROI analysis, and evaluate the impact of campaigns on margins.
• Analyse inventory turnover, days inventory outstanding and shrinkage, recommending stock optimisation.
• Produce weekly and monthly reports and dashboards, automating reporting where possible.
• Partner with store operations, buying, merchandising, supply‑chain and commercial teams to provide financial insights.
• Conduct ad‑hoc scenario, sensitivity and cost‑saving analyses for new store openings and initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.
• 3‑5 years of experience in FP&A or financial analysis, preferably in retail or FMCG.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into clear business recommendations.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, Power Query, financial modelling).
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Proficiency in BI tools like Power BI or Tableau.
