Senior General Accountant

About the role

The Senior General Accountant will ensure the integrity of the company’s accounting records, prepare accurate financial statements and support month‑end and year‑end closing activities in line with accounting standards and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, recording all transactions promptly.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Review and post journal entries, accruals and pre‑payments with proper documentation.
• Perform reconciliations for bank, inter‑company and fixed‑asset accounts.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing, meeting all deadlines.
• Prepare schedules and documentation for external and internal audits.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, withholding tax and other tax regulations.
• Guide and review the work of junior accounting staff.
• Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and controls.
• Participate in HSE initiatives to maintain a safe work environment.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of general accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or steel fabrication.
• Preferably 7+ years with exposure to consolidated financial reporting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• Studying towards or holding CMA/ACCA certification (modules completed are a plus).
• Proficient in English, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• ERP systems – SAP or Oracle.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Financial reporting tools and automation of reconciliations.
• Knowledge of VAT and withholding tax compliance.
