Senior Process Engineer - Pumping Stations

About the role

Egis, an international consulting, construction engineering and mobility services company operating in 100 countries, is hiring a Senior Process Engineer in Cairo. You will lead hydraulic design, analysis and surge (water hammer) studies for Pumping Stations, including Fire Water and Potable Water systems, for industrial and infrastructure projects, in line with international standards and UAE/KSA local authority regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform hydraulic modelling and analysis of Pumping Stations using steady-state and transient (surge/water hammer) analysis
• Carry out surge analysis to identify overpressure, negative pressure, column separation, check valve slam and air valve issues, and design surge mitigation measures
• Prepare pump selection, sizing, pump curves, system curves, pump head and NPSH calculations
• Prepare pipe sizing, pressure drop and flow velocity checks for pumping mains, fire water and potable water networks
• Prepare and review process documents such as P&IDs, hydraulic calculation reports, line schedules, equipment lists and pump datasheets
• Support piping and equipment layouts and coordinate with the plot planning team on safety distances and space
• Lead hydraulic and surge studies independently, guide and support junior engineers, and interact with clients
• Collaborate with Piping, Mechanical, Architecture, Structure, Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls, and with the BIM team on 3D models and 2D layouts
• Take part in HAZOP/HAZID, constructability and 3D model reviews, and prepare MR, TBE and incorporate vendor designs

Required profile

• Graduate in Chemical or Process Engineering
• 10+ years of experience in the relevant field is preferred
• Knowledge of AWWA, NWC, NFPA, Hydraulic Institute, ASME (B31.1, B31.3, B31.9), API and BS/EN standards, and UAE and KSA local regulations (DEWA, ADDC, Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense, SBC)
• Experience on EPC projects and in fire protection hydraulic design is an added advantage
• Able to work on and support multiple projects simultaneously
