Senior Software Engineer – Enterprise Agentic Automation (Remote EMEA)

About the role

Camunda is looking for a senior software engineer to join its Enterprise Agentic Automation Team. You will help build and operate production‑grade agentic AI systems that power critical business processes across the company and serve as reference implementations for customers. The role is fully remote within the EMEA region.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement production‑grade agentic orchestration systems using executable BPMN, Camunda workers/connectors, DMN and AI components.
• Develop AI agents with defined responsibilities, tools, memory strategies and decision boundaries.
• Engineer context pipelines (static instructions, dynamic enrichment, RAG, constraints, evaluation signals) to ensure reliable model behaviour.
• Implement structured prompting, output enforcement, human‑in‑the‑loop patterns and guardrails for safe execution.
• Build evaluation frameworks, feedback loops and testing for deterministic and non‑deterministic systems.
• Operate agents in production (AgentOps) including logging, monitoring, alerting, incident response and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to production infrastructure standards such as CI/CD, environment separation, secrets management and security fundamentals.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience designing, building and operating production‑grade backend or platform systems.
• Strong background in Java and Spring development.
• Experience with workflow and decision technologies such as BPMN and DMN.
• Proven ability to work with AI components and implement robust, secure, scalable solutions.
