Senior Tax Operations Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Tax Operations Specialist to lead all tax‑related activities for South Africa. You will ensure accurate corporate and indirect tax reporting, support audits, and keep the business compliant with evolving tax legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate and maintain Corporate Tax and VAT master data in line with statutory requirements.
• Prepare and formally review corporate and indirect tax returns, coordinating with external advisers for substantive review.
• Create tax effect accounting entries and work with R2R Operations for proper recording.
• Produce monthly VAT reports and provide data for corporate tax returns.
• Compile documentation and analysis for direct and indirect tax audits.
• Manage local and global tax compliance processes, including control reconciliations.
• Apply the RACI matrix for tax compliance activities.
• Collaborate with external tax advisors, auditors, and internal tax heads across regions.
• Review and reconcile tax account balances to ensure they are up‑to‑date.
• Monitor tax law changes and provide ongoing tax advice to the business.

Required profile

• 4 to 7 years of experience in tax, preferably in a Big 4 firm or multinational enterprise.
• Strong knowledge of corporate tax, VAT, and indirect tax compliance.
• Ability to work with external advisers and internal finance teams.
• Proficiency in English (B2 level or higher).
• Professional qualification such as CPA, CMA or equivalent is a plus.
