About the role
The Steward‑Chief is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen utility operations at Sheraton Soma Bay Resort. This includes managing dish room activities, night cleaning, back‑dock maintenance, banquet plating and food running while supervising non‑cooking staff.
Key responsibilities
- Order and manage supplies, equipment, tools, and uniforms for kitchen staff.
- Schedule events, programs and the work of kitchen employees.
- Conduct inventories of china, glass, silver, food, equipment, smallware and liquor; report shortages.
- Inspect supplies, equipment and work areas to ensure efficiency and compliance with standards.
- Enforce cleaning routines for serviceware, equipment, floors and dish‑room machinery.
- Maintain food‑holding and transport equipment in working order.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, food handling and sanitation regulations.
- Lead, supervise and develop kitchen team members, fostering productivity and safety.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED with 4 years of relevant experience, OR a 2‑year degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or related field with 2 years of experience.
