Tax & Export Accountant

About the role

Sobek Exports is looking for a detail‑oriented Tax & Export Accountant to join its Finance team. The role ensures full tax compliance, manages export accounting activities and supports customs and shipping documentation in line with Egyptian regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit all required tax returns (VAT, withholding, payroll) accurately and on time.
• Maintain compliance with Egyptian tax laws and monitor legislative changes.
• Perform tax reconciliations and support audits or inspections.
• Record and reconcile export sales, foreign‑currency transactions and related entries.
• Review export documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin and shipping documents.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, banks and government authorities on export transactions.
• Prepare and reconcile export cost reports and shipping‑related expenses.
• Assist in month‑end and year‑end closing activities and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Collaborate with Export, Procurement, Logistics and Finance teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Support internal and external auditors by providing required financial documentation.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to strengthen internal controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• 3–6 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or export environment.
• Strong knowledge of Egyptian tax regulations and export accounting.
• Experience with foreign‑currency accounting and banking procedures related to exports.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
