Tax Lead / Tax Manager

About the role

AL Morshedy Marts, a leading Egyptian retailer, is seeking a senior Tax Lead / Tax Manager to head its tax function. The role will ensure full compliance with Egyptian tax laws, optimise tax processes and support the business with proactive planning and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all corporate tax activities, including VAT, corporate income tax, payroll tax, withholding and stamp tax.
• Oversee tax compliance processes, e‑invoicing and e‑receipt systems, tax reporting, reconciliations, provisions and deferred tax calculations.
• Coordinate tax audits, inspections and inquiries with the Egyptian Tax Authority, handling assessments, disputes and settlements.
• Monitor legislative changes and evaluate their operational and financial impact.
• Partner with Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics, Commercial and Retail Operations to ensure correct tax treatment of contracts, vendor agreements, imports and logistics.
• Drive process‑improvement initiatives, strengthen internal controls and maintain audit‑ready documentation.
• Identify tax optimisation opportunities while minimising risk exposure.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in taxation, preferably in retail or FMCG.
• Proven track record dealing directly with the Egyptian Tax Authority.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Experience working in fast‑paced, dynamic environments.
• Relevant professional certification (Tax Diploma, CPA, CMA, ACCA) is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Odoo.
• Hands‑on experience with e‑invoicing and e‑receipt platforms.
• Deep knowledge of Egyptian tax regulations and compliance procedures.
