About the role
The Department of Chemistry and Physics at Louisiana State University Alexandria seeks a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Chemistry. The appointment begins August 15 2026 and involves teaching undergraduate chemistry courses on campus and online.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver lecture and laboratory courses in General, Analytical and Instrumental Analysis.
- Maintain high instructional standards and employ innovative teaching methods.
- Mentor undergraduate research projects and provide academic advising.
- Hold regular office hours, both in person and virtually.
- Participate in departmental committees, curriculum development and institutional meetings.
- Allocate effort to scholarly activities (≈20 %) and community/university service (≈20 %).
Required profile
- Ph.D. in Chemistry.
- Teaching experience at the college level, preferably covering a range of chemistry subjects.
- Graduate coursework of at least 18 credit hours in Chemistry (not Chemistry Education).
- Ability to communicate chemistry concepts clearly and engagingly.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
