Welding Leading Hand – Mining Maintenance

About the role

The Welding Leading Hand will execute planned and unplanned structural maintenance and welding tasks on a shift‑by‑shift basis at the Sukari gold mine in Marsa Alam, Egypt. Reporting to the maintenance supervisor, the role leads a mobile team to ensure safe, high‑quality work that meets OEM specifications and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed inspections of structural equipment such as booms, sticks, buckets, and track frames to identify corrective work before breakdowns occur.
• Prioritise defects based on health, safety, environment (HSE) risk and equipment availability.
• Lead shift handovers and translate toolbox talks for the crew.
• Supervise safe execution of welding tasks in the open pit or workshop, ensuring compliance with permits, risk assessments and isolation procedures.
• Perform welds and inspect repairs using dye penetrant, ultrasonic and magnetic particle inspection (MPI) methods.
• Complete structural reports, manage spare parts inventory, and maintain housekeeping standards.

Required profile

• National technical qualifications are highly regarded.
• Formal certification in 4G welding.
• 3–5 years of experience in welding or heavy structural maintenance, preferably with heavy‑equipment or construction backgrounds.
