Applied Scientist Intern (2026)

About the role

Amazon is seeking MS or PhD students for a 2026 Applied Scientist internship. You will work on cutting‑edge problems in machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, large language models, speech technology, robotics, computer vision, optimization, quantum computing, automated reasoning, or formal methods.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop end‑to‑end systems that solve novel research problems.
• Write technical white papers, create roadmaps, and drive production‑level projects.
• Collaborate closely with Amazon scientists and fellow interns to prototype, test, and deploy algorithms and models.
• Contribute to algorithmic research, model design, and technical solution implementation.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a PhD or Master’s program in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics, or a related field.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or a comparable language.
• Ability to work with diverse, cross‑functional teams and solve complex business problems.
• Preferred: academic publications in relevant research areas.
