Chief Accountant

About the role

The Chief Accountant will lead the accounting function for Mercure Hotels in Hurghada, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with local regulations. This senior position reports to senior management and plays a key role in financial decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes and coordinate internal and external audits.
• Monitor cash flow, budgets and financial performance, providing analysis to support business decisions.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with tax and statutory reporting requirements.
• Supervise, mentor and evaluate accounting staff, fostering professional development.
• Support the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, ACCA or CMA preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
